5 Way to Make Your Workout More Effective

Updated: Aug 14, 2018

I feel like after doing my 80 Day Obsession challenge (there will be a post don't worry) I am able to go to to the gym if I'm not doing a group class, and have an effective workout. Getting into workout mode is tough, and sticking with it is even harder. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to amp yourself up and make that sweat session count

Friends that sweat together stay together. Having a workout buddy will keep you both accountable and motivate you to do better. Plus a little competition never hurt anybody. Working out with a friend not only makes the time fly by, but it's much more fun than working out solo. You can't do partner plank hand slaps or medicine ball sit ups alone.

The early bird catches the worm...and the six pack. When you workout in the morning you are allowing your body to burn more calories in the day which means your metabolism is getting an extra boost. All of this eventually leads to more fat burning and weight loss. You'll also feel great the rest of the day after getting your workout in which will motivate you to stay on track each morning.

How many times have you gone to the gym without a plan and spent an hour on the elliptical or treadmill watching Netflix. If you plan your workout before you hit the gym you then have set goals that you'll be motivated to reach. Even if you are a group fitness junkie, set your schedule on a Sunday night of what classes you'll be taking for the week and you'll have no excuse to cancel.

If it doesn't challenge you it certainly won't change you. Stop spending so much time on the treadmill and explore the endless possibilities of a Zumba  or kettlebell class. No one likes to try new things (when it comes to sweating, at least) but putting yourself in a new environment enables you to push your limits - and meet new people!

Stop putting so much pressure on yourself and just do you boo! The chances of you seeing results overnight are slim to none so continue to trust the process and have fun doing so! When you micromanage your own health and nutrition you're only stressing yourself out, so go ahead and take an off day or treat yourself to something nice for dessert. Cheat days might be the new weight loss trend.
